Richard Retin and Ed Pado have contracted with Raven Arts of Sequim, Washington to have a museum quality model of the USS Canopus AS-34 to be built.  It will cost $5,000, which we advanced with our own money.  The scale will be 1:175, making the length 44” long.  All the details of the two missile cranes, four traveling cranes, four service booms, her small boats, etc. will be faithfully reproduced.

Command Sponsors of the model are Admiral Barrett, our first commanding officer, and Captain Eaton, our second commanding officer.

Past officers and crewmembers are invited to become Plank Owner Sponsors.

Benefits are:  

  • Plank Owner’s Certificate signed by Admiral Barrett and Captain Eaton.
        
  • Progress pictures of the model as it is being built will be sent to you.
     
  • An invitation to the model’s commissioning ceremony where Admiral Barrett and his wife, Joan, will formally dedicate the model.
